Friday Night Before Saturday Poker Session

Relaxing and watching Gold Rush on TV. I'll be heading to the casino about 11:00am tomorrow and should be playing by noon. Looking forward to a good session and winning. Good luck to all who will be playing this weekend.

Running Total Profit / Loss Starting Jan 2012 ( Session By Session )

Waiting On The Weekend

It's always a long week at work after I have a loosing session at the casino. Got to wait until Sat afternoon to get another shot to get my money back. Although I'm still a winner for the year I want to make up for some lost ground. I'm always anxious to correct mistakes I made in the previous sessions.

Poker Session 2/11/2012

Disappointing night at the poker room. Lost, and I don't think I played well after a couple of semi-bad beats.  Nothing special happened, just a combination of some bad luck and losing my edge by playing some hands I should have folded.

Another lesson learned I hope. I guess if I never lost I wouldn't have room for improvement.
Next Time…….

Some random table pics from session.
After the session I had a great BBQ Dinner, Not sure it was worth 500.00.......

Poker Session 2/4/2012

Last Saturday ( 2-4-2012 ) was an interesting poker session.

It started out bad and got worse for the next few hours.
I was down to my last 200.00 buy in after about 6 hours of playing. None of my hands were holding up. It seemed that everyone that was on a draw was hitting their straights and flushes on the river and I couldn't stop anyone from calling.

... I left the table for a few minutes to get some coffee and regroup. When I came back I was determined to just play as good as I could and try to get at least some of my money back.

In a few minutes I flopped top two pair on a board with a flush draw possible, I decided to just go for it and push all-in and hope either they would fold, or miss the flush. Well, they called with the flush draw and missed. I doubled up.

Now with some chips I could play some tight poker and see if I could beat these guys. The next 6 hours I never looked back, I felted both the players that had been drawing out on me and one of them twice. The worm had turned and I was way ahead and looking good.

When the dust settled, I had about 2000.00 in my stack and it was 2:00am. That’s when I decided to call it a night and go home a good winner.

I escaped the trap to live and fight another day.

New Players To No Limit Hold'em

This post is for anyone that might be considering NL poker at a casino for the first time.

If you have never played live poker in a real casino, especially No Limit poker, then my advice is don't do it for the first time in a casino.

I see it quite often that someone wonders in from the slots after loosing money and think they can get it back at the No Limit tables, It's a mistake.
...
I watched one just last week who had no idea of how to put blinds in, or what to do when it was his turn. He would be told to put his big blind in and then fold out of turn before the betting round was complete, even though it would have been checked around to him and he could have seen the flop for free. Within about 45 minutes he had lost his money and left. I'm quite sure he didn't even enjoy the time he had at the table.

My advice is to join one of the free online poker Internet sites and play for a few weeks. Learn the terms of poker and how the blinds work before jumping into a game where everyone at the table is trying to take all your money and doesn't care if you have no clue.
Get a Poker book, read it. Watch some TV poker. Just know the basics when you set down at the table. If you don't do this, then within seconds you will be branded as a fish and an idiot and you WILL be taken advantage of.

If you decide to not do any of the things I have mentioned, then at least join my table. I can always use the extra money.
